VelocityEHS is seeking a Software Development Manager to join its Technology Team. The VelocityEHS Software Development team helps create functionality that allow all customers (whether internal or external) to do their jobs with ease. They do so by architecting a code base that allows for flexibility as well as maintaining existing structure to fulfill the customers’ needs. Building applications in many programming languages such as Typescript, JavaScript, React Framework and more that gives our software engineers room for growth and constant learning opportunities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage one or more teams of software engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster professional growth and high performance.
- Develop and implement software development strategies, goals, and initiatives in alignment with the company’s overall objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including product managers, designers, and other cross-functional teams, to define project requirements, scope, and deliverables.
- Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to industry best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Drive the execution of projects, including planning, resource allocation, scheduling, and risk management to ensure timely and successful delivery.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the software development team.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and industry developments, and provide guidance on their potential impact and application within the organization.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify training needs to enhance team productivity and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the recruitment team to attract, hire, and retain top software engineering talent, ensuring a diverse and inclusive work environment
Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
- 6+ years’ experience leading software developments teams, projects, or similar
- 3+ years’ experience in Software Development
- Proficient in front-end technologies (preferably React)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- Solid understanding of software development methodologies, Agile principles, and DevOps practices
- Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve high-quality results.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams and stakeholders
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of object-oriented development
- Understanding of cloud-based platforms to identify possible opportunities for usage
- Knowledge of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software development
- Knowledge of SQL databases
- Understanding of modern automated testing best practices
